I am pretty certain Wagner is walking into a trap. It takes Russia months to seize Bahkmut, and Prigozhin believes it is pure coincidence that Ukraine cedes the rest of the city while carrying out a counter-offensive along Wagner's flanks, a counter-offensive that just happens to involve taking the high ground surrounding the city? I think it very likely Prigozhin just walked into a double envelopment. It is possible that Ukriane pours another brigade into the counter-attack around the city to completely surround Wagner.
This would still leave three brigades for a “second diversionary offensive” and seven for a major thrust towards Mauripol.
We will see just how long lasting this “victory in Bahkmut is.”
