If the roles were reversed and the CDC and NIH were filled with Republicans and a Republican president were pushing a vaccine mandate which the left opposed, what tactics would the left be using? I ask this because I wonder if we are not noticing all our tactical possibilities because of our ideological and ethical blinders. Our principles are a strength, but they are also a weakness.
What would the lefties do? I think, for one thing, they would pursue disparate impact lawsuits regarding private companies' implementation of vaccine mandates---esp. right leaning companies---if they resulted in more minority individuals being fired. The thing is, they will implement the policy with an eye to cutting costs and easing implementation and will likely fire people rather than implement this "testing alternative." Given the increased frequency of vaccine hesitancy among minorities, it is highly likely there will be a disparate impact from these policies. I think there is a real vulnerability here and it should be exploited to the fullest. The point would be to put left leaning corporate America between such a rock and a hard place that they hopefully are deterred from political interference going forward. I think a great many companies, esp. new tech companies that think of themselves as beyond reproach, will blunder into violating these laws.
Win or lose on the vaccine mandate, we need a follow up strategy that, hopefully, helps to turn corporate America against the health establishment. Even if the mandate goes through, we have this as a backup plan. And if the mandate is overturned, we will have even stronger grounds to sue.
Data is available, I believe, regarding which candidates and political parties different organizations donated to---both on the employee and the corporate level. By targeting those that gave to our opponents, we can do two things 1) impose costs on them and 2) impose the psychological stress that comes from being labeled racist. It will also undermine the left's "white supremacy" narrative: If we are white supremacist, why is it you who is being sued for discrimination against minorities? And why are you losing these suits? Left leaning law firms will likely not retaliate as they favor the mandates, so it will generate a strong impression that the racism is all coming from one direction.
Also, quite a bit of money to be made here...I wouldn't mind seeing these dirtbags lose some cash and paying out the employees they fired.
Anyway, some of the above predictions may be wrong...but generally causing your opponents pain is a good proxy for what works. Feedback is a useful hueristic---and if they complain about this, chances are it is working in some way. Always lean into your political opposition's screams and try to avoid screaming yourself. (You lean into the organization's screams---not the base voter. You do not want to cause pain to their base voters and encourage turn out. But the pain of an organization or an organ of the establishment is a different matter.)
